What causes middle back pain?
Middle back pain occurs in the thoracic spine which is located between the Cervical spine (upper back), and Lumbar (lower back). Symptoms usually caused by injury to a muscle (strain), ligament (sprain), dull pain, burning sensation, muscle tightness and stiffness, or a sharp and stabbing pain. Common causes include improper lifting, poor posture, lack of regular exercise, a fracture, a ruptured/bulging disc or aging. Other causes may be due to pregnancy and coughing. Pain can be short-term and intense (acute) or it can draw out for months to years depending on the cause.
A physiotherapist can help you alleviate pain, and give guidance on how to manage and prevent middle back pain from getting worse.
